The Gulf

the gulf is opened

waves rough and obnoxious
filled with the hopes and the dreams
and the crushed desires
morose days
depressed nights
things that just don’t go the way
you would expect

the gulf can’t be covered
nor evaporated
no pretending its not there
it’s always present
nagging the coast

waves can be assuaged
by knowing
not only the horrific things
are buried there
in the gulf
