Growing Up Through Life
Growing up through life,
The pressure to find a job is high.
It feels like a cut from a knife
When you don’t know where to spend the rest of your time.
When I was little,
I wished to be a vet.
Giving the thought a twittle,
I realized I could not put an animal to rest.
Reaching the age of eleven,
I dreamed of being a baker.
Although I would love to make sweets 24/7,
I realized I was no creator.
During my middle school years,
The thought of being a lawyer came to mind.
However, I would not be able to handle the stress and tears.
Yet again, realization kicked in, and I had to leave the idea behind.
When a freshman,
I did not like the thought of finding a career.
I was only a weak human
Who realized that I had no control over the next few years.
Now a junior,
Who has the idea of pursuing journalism,
I am scared I will not enjoy the career, and all I do is yearn.
I have realized I have no plans, and I have no optimism.
Who will I be
When I reach life’s adult stage?
Will I be successful at twenty-three?
Or will I remain stagnant until an older age?
When you don’t know where to spend the rest of your time,
It feels like a cut from a knife.
The pressure to find a job is high
Growing up through life.
