Growing Through A Fight

Fear was a word that followed the boogeyman

It described how I felt about zombies, and things beyond the imagination of man

But as I grew older those fears grew weak

And arose a creature seemingly impossible to defeat

It slithers and crawls around my being

It attacks and tortures with no plausible meaning

It turns a joyful day into a dreadful one

And it’s not too far away when its senses my fun

I search for heroes and weapons to fight it

But it knows my actions before the idea is lit

This creature is vast and controls many lives

And its victims are connected through its punishing ties

Sometimes it gives fair warnings before its ambush

Even still it’s stronger against my strenuous push

As I age I’ve gathered strategies

To bring the fearful being to its knees

Many of us are fighting this great fight

But united together we strengthen our might

For I will not let my fear get the best of me

I am stronger than it, I will overcome anxiety
