Growing Love
Love.
How do you explain something so elusive?
It’s intensity can’t be contained
Not by the mere strength of words
Love is not an empty word
To be thrown around like a ball on a court
Love is precious
Sacred
To be held at the highest regard
Love is a seed.
Small at first, maybe even unnoticeable
You steal a glance and flash a smile
You dig a small hole.
And place the seed inside
Oh’ the butterflies
As the conversations flow
Your feelings start to spark
The seedling starts to grow
Now comes the important part
How you treat this fragile life
Determines how strong it will be
Support, kindness, trust
Understanding, Patients
These are all a must
As you nurture it
It will become strong
An oak standing tall
From the start
You will weather through the seasons of life
Watch your love become a piece of art
Spring. light and airy, lots of butterflies
Summer. hot and sweaty, passionate
Fall. lots of change and beauty
Winter, sometimes cold and frosty
Love can be wonderful
A power so magical
It makes life beyond enjoyable
But if you aren’t careful
And if you are to hurtul
It will be miserable
Instead your seedling won’t grow
It won’t become a strong oak
You will feel all alone
So if you want a strong oak
To lay under on a sunny day
To cover you from the icy snow
You must help love grow
Make sure they know
All the ways they make you glow
Even if a branch may bend or break
Know love is what you make
Cause Oh’ for goodness sake
Love makes the world go round
In their arms you feel safe and sound
For words it is just to profound
