Good-bye

Never will it do to lie
About how fully that you've caught my eye
Now you've gone; I can do naught but sigh
Forever gone; I can do naught but die
Braver ones will surely try
To win you with winking, and batted eye
And nothing, save for shy words have I
My plans to speak go painfully awry
Downcast in heart, I quietly cry
Night after night I ask myself why
Why I thought it wise to say good-bye
