She was a tree
Not because she was strong and sturdy
But because of her inability to keep her thoughts together
They fell like leaves on the sidewalk to be trampled by those who passed by

She was a flower
Not because she was pleasing to the eye
But because she was always yanked from her foundation
To be placed in a vase she didn't fit in

She was water
Not because she took the form of anything she was put in
But because she was so easily drained
And those who were meant to catch her gulped her down instead
