A girl I know

Location

She dances at the back of the class,

Too shy and afraid to show what she's got,

She never raises her hand to share her answers,

Too afraid that all the attention would be focused on her,

She barely talks to anyone,

Too scared to know how people would respond to her,

She keeps her feelings inside,

Until the emotions fill her up; about to explode,

She picks out every fault in herself,

Confidence so low and gone, it was nowhere to be found,

But slowly,

Ever so slowly,

That same girl began to dance in the front,

For the first time, showing everyone what she can do,

That same girl began to speak more in class,

Feeling proud when her answers were correct,

That same girl started to speak to people,

She talked about her feelings

She felt safe,

She sees herself in a new light,

A beautiful girl who's got the whole world in front of her,

A girl who would work hard to get where she wants to be,

To make her dreams come true is her dream,

To always be happy,

That girl is me.
