We have all been told

do things before you are old.

We sit here and laugh in their faces

and continue to walk at leisurly paces.

We go through elementary, middle, and high school.

Only to find that growing up is not cool.

We are constantly pestered, badgered, encouraged, and shaken

about the future that is becoming awakened.

"Live while you are young" they yell

For the kids they are just too young to tell.

We laugh and scream and cry and shout.

We spit and chew and fight and pout.

They have tried to prepare us for this lurking creature.

The future, and it is the worst feature.
