To Find An Escape

Poetry has taught me how to write to escape the world and problems that seem unbearable. It has taught me to turn them into thoughts and feelings of beauty.

Shedding away their misery,

along a sea of glass.

Bound by these metal bars

is the only home I know.

Can't get to the other side

where they'll accept me with open arms.

I want to escape to love, beauty, and hope.

Take away all other things,

a perfect world awaits.

Behind this locked door

is my paradise called home.

Oh, a paradise, it's calling me,

but these chains just pull me down.

I want to escape to a better place,

a place I can be myself.

Taken for an outcast,

as my pride inside grows.

Outside is a bigger world than us,

my inspiration knows.

Why can't you accept me for who I really am?

So take me to a better place,

a place I can call home.

These tears, they fall like waterfalls

and never stop the flow.

All I want is an open door

where they'll accept me with arms of love.

I want to escape to love, beauty, and hope.

Take away all other things,

a perfect world awaits.

Behind this locked door

is my paradise called home.

My paradise called poetry.
