Sun, 05/17/2020 - 20:49 -- Breesy

No matter the time, it was cold

And the wind drew heavy breaths

No matter how young, that day we were old

Enough to watch the mess

The scent of roses in the air

Worn red fabric on every chair

The sweetest sorrow is parting and so

Flowers adorn a funeral

I drove alone with music playing

To drown out the mocking of the wind

Food for the dead to sustain the living

Spilled coffee and tablecloth blend

The scent of roses in the air

Worn red fabric on every chair

The sweetest sorrow is parting and so

Flowers adorn a funeral

A life in three short paragraphs

Comprehensive, we pretend

We're all just background in the life you had

Your story, my chapter, the end

And I miss you terribly

I'm sorry I didn't cry

It's not because I didn't care

It's not because I didn't try

But there's a hole left in my heart

And I think I'm angry you went and died

I wish I'd said I loved you

Just one more time

The scent of roses in the air

Worn red fabric on every chair

The sweetest sorrow is parting and so

Flowers adorn a funeral
