Expectations

Location

She says sit like a lady

but has rules against chairs.

Here's six hours of reading,

I'm sure you have time to spare.

Here's a screwdriver and wood

now give me boat.

There is a list of to-do's,

its the ten-paged note.

Has is ever occured

to those who command

that the clock on the wall

has only two hands?

But time is the question,

that is a gift.

It is our expectations

that are slightly adrift.

I've had people in my life who expect me to do things that aren't in line with what I want. This poem is kind of a slam to them. It is a way of saying, "Have fun with what you want me to do, in the meantime I'll be living my life."
