An Exit

An Exit

Ashley Shea

A sign upon a door

Search for your red sign

Take your effortless way out

An escape from your despair

You take the worlds brutal hits

With each wound you quiver

Times are rough

You’re becoming embedded in your sorrow

Stuck in depression, anxiety, your thoughts

In insecurities, death, in loss

Day by day you surrender the fight

You abandon the smiles, you give up laughter’s

A red sign

A slowing heartbeat

Stillness

Silence
