Evening Skies

beautifully mysterious,
she hides away in the depths of nothing
afraid to take a chance on the dawn

night- her best friend
the only thing she can count on
soon, it too will be gone

she emerges, shielding her eyes
from what is to come
the brightness overwhelms her

it returns; she is safe
unaware of the opportunities light brings
she locks the door, content with nothing
