Drought
Location
The Sun's heat cruelly purloins the life-sustaining moisture from Earth,
Leaving her a lifeless shell.
Each day the waves of heat surge across the ground,
The fingers of a heartless thief.
When Sun releases his iron grip and the merciful Moon shines her cool face on Earth,
Earth sighs gratefully,
But her tears of happiness have been stolen from her.
Despair, then, as the few precious hours of relief give way to more of Sun's ravaging rays.
Earth bravely struggles to stay strong--
She barely manages to keep her dry body from blowing away
As a small rain cloud promises to bestow the cure for her suffering.
Rain, precious rain falls upon Earth's lips, which are cracked, but smiling.
