Doll House

Doll House

September 6, 2018 ~ Thursday

Winter in the heart

Blue as the sea

Off the windy coast of Maine

A little mermaid in waiting

That little mermaid is me

Back of a chocolate colored raincoat

Is all I see

Chocolate brown eyes

Staring out from shore

A heart that feels summer no more

Waves keep on smashing against rocks

Cardboard cutout of what I once was

Letting go of that because

Seasons are everchanging

Memory keeps rearranging

Telling me the gray skies fade to black at night

Moon is trying to survive

Writing is the only thing

Keeping her alive

What once was cannot be once more

In a doll house
