Do You Remember?

Location

Do you remember

The earth’s heartbeat?

Do you know

That flowers aren’t just

To look pretty?

And that the dirt

Lives and breathes?

But do you also know

That the earth,

Like the flowers

Are fragile.

Delicate.

Even if we don’t know

Their voices,

Their heartbeat,

Upon us the responsibility rests

To balance

The old with the new.

Young one, remember this;

While progress is great—

even a blessing—

It will crumble and fail

Without responsibility.

Without respect.

Remember.
