It's kinda funny how when you're small all you dream about is growing tall and becoming an adult.
But they never said life would be this hard. It's not all sugar plums and fairy tales.
There is no red carpet leading to the right path.
There is no pamphlet stating all of life's facts.
In our lives we have made mistakes
that have haunted us and left us wide awake.
Quietly crying in your pillow, so no one hears
It's at the darkest hour where you release all your fears.
Cortisol levels are at their max
You feel as though you're about to have a heart attack.
You hold onto regret and let the past take over
You wish things could magically fix by chasing rainbows and finding four leaf clovers.
The economy has turned to shit
Student loans are making us dig a deeper ditch.
You want to turn your emotions off and just turn cold
Not feel anything and never grow old.
And even though life seems unfair
There is something that I would like you to be aware.
We rise and fall and crash and burn
But like the Phoenix we shall return.
We will rise out of the ashes of our predecessor
And we will continue life just as it has been done, like our ancestors.
Sure life is not easy, the movies lied
Life isn't always going to be as sweet as apple pie.
We will get hurt and betrayed
but eventually those scars will fade.
Life will get better, we just have to move on
It may take a couple of years but before you know it
We will be singing the tune of a different song.
Hold onto the reins and direct and steer your emotions
Life is what you make it
We can't fix our burdens with magical potions.
So be accepting of the loss, grief and depression
If we learn from it and grow
We can make a bigger impact and impression.
Growing up is scary, painful and can make you weary
But it can also be beautiful, exciting and merry.
And even though there are times when we feel like we can't go on
We should look forward to the future because I know that we are strong.
