Disease

It’s so cold here,

I feel like it’s ice,

This weight that’s bearing down,

It’s fast and precise.

I feel like it knows me,

As if we’re old friends,

But I know better than that,

As it breaks and it bends.

My whole heart is apart,

All open and coal,

I know better than that,

It has taken its toll.

This feeling inside,

It’s not new or exciting,

It has been here for awhile,

As I age and am dying.
