The Devil's Villanelle

Pray and one day I’ll be free from your trance

My throat still tightens at the thought of your cry

Ill sit by the fire and watch devils dance

I might love you if i gave it a chance

But resolve is a river, you’ve made it run dry

Pray and one day I’ll be free from your trance

I’d like to think wit has the upper hand

My wit being sand, tis gritty yet light

Ill sit by the fire and watch devils dance

Elegantly those devils do prance

They don’t stomp but tap on nerves in my mind

Pray and one day I’ll be free from your trance

Sometimes I reflect on our holy galavants

A cherub of you creeps on me at night

So I sit by the fire and watch devils dance

And those angels of you are a painful romance

Singing divine chants as we jump from great heights

Pray and one day I’ll be free from your trance

Ill sit by the fire and watch devils dance
