A Deep Love

I never asked to be loved widely,
Merely deeply.
I never asked for a million and a half lovers and life partners,
Just one.

One to hold me as I cry.
One to tell me it's okay to fail, just try.
One to help me move in the right direction.
One to admire my inner and outer complexion.
One to plan a future with.
One to share every dream, hope, and wish.

Some people don't believe in young love.
In falling right away.
In unsheathing your heart, taking off the glove.
In letting the boat named love rock and sway.

I believe in it all.
I believe in showing all emotions.
I believe in the lost art of being open.
I believe in saying I love you.
I believe in jumping in with both feet.
I believe in loving with your all.

I believe in love.
Young or old.
Black or white.
Rich or poor.
Faithful or not.

Because love is love.
Happiness is happiness.
Whatever form it comes in,
It's beautiful and welcome.
Which is why I'm happy to be in it.
