dear mom and dad, tell me what you see

DEAR MOM AND DAD,

by kaleena mojarro

Dear mom and dad,

Look at me and tell me what you see

The pain in my eyes is not what you see

The little girl who use to run and play is what you see

But truth is i am not that little girl any more

I hide my feeling away.

On the inside i am dying.

I am crying and screaming out for help.

But that is not what you see.

What you see is the smile on my face and the sparkle in my eye.

I tell you “i am fine” but you dont really listen to what that means.

If someone had listened about a year ago

Maybe i wouldnt have 6 suicide attempts under my belt

And these scars on my arms. Theres scars reach farther then my arms

These scars are deep in my heart.

But that is not what you see.

You see your little girl

Who was happy as can be.

Well dear mom and dad, i am not that little girl anymore.

So open up your eyes and listen to me.

NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE.
