Dear J. Cole (An open letter to men in the media)
Don't tell me to embrace my curves
Until you've been 14 years old
getting felt up by guys with beards
And you know what it's like to be used
for physical pleasure
before you know how to drive.
Don't tell me to embrace my curves
Until you've been known
for the size of your breasts
insted of the talents you posess.
Don't tell me to embrace my curves
Until you've had to wear two bras
just to go on a jog
And the men in cars still honk at you
and stare
and yell
And you come home with agony
in your back
and humiliation
in your heart.
And don't tell me
a few more push ups will help because
I lost 40 pounds and still
have the width of a linebacker.
Don't you dare tell me to embrace my curves
when you made me want to
destroy them.
