Dear Heart
Dear Heart,
You are quite a strange and odd little thing,
Beating steadily here within my chest.
But you have shown you can stutter, cry, sing,
And, o'erall, make me feel my worst or best.
You are just a small organ inside me,
Pumping blood through my ev'ry single vein.
Yet you are so much more than that, you see:
You give me joy, anger, sorrow, and pain.
What you cause me to feel goes on and on,
But what I cherish most is feeling love.
You bring me despair when that love is gone,
But bring me bravery to rise above.
Despite being a hidden and small part,
You're a huge aspect of who I am, Heart.
