The day was cold with a bitter wind

Not a sun beam to be seen

My rent was due, my fridge was empty and bland

How did it get like this?

I remember the days of an endless amount of food,

Looking up and not being able to see,

The food comes with a price, some high some low.

I look back and see the good ole days and about my reliance.

But today, I see the independence of adulthood.

The strength it takes to fill a fridge and pay your way to survival.

Oh what a day when I saw my what adulthood meant.
