Standing atop the world,

Feeling the wind whirl around me,

I gaze into the distance.

Gradually the darkness is banished,

The stars fade to the glory of the golden globe

That rises high above me.

Orange and red painted in long strokes

Against the dark canvas of night.

I look down into the valley and see the beauty of Creation,

Exalted by the golden light that nurtures it.

I spread my arms and turn my face up toward the heavens,

Letting God’s golden grace wash over me.

Time stops: I am exalted, I am free.

Awakening me from my delight at dawn,

And refreshing me with their dewdrops,

The first of the clouds breathe on me

And the wind whips my hair again.
