Crazy Old Maurice
Making fun, “Crazy Old Maurice”.
Once upon a time, he
was a hired inventor, at peace.
Until one winter night,
the young prince answered a knocking.
Watching, the inventor
sees the traveler he was passing
become an enchantress.
“Crazy Old Maurice” they insist.
The enchantress cursed the
castle and its people. A mist
chased the royal inventor.
The cursed fog spread through the forest
as it tried to touch him,
while he rode his horse to the test.
Unable to capture him
the forest, in his place, was changed.
No, he will never lead
you back. Those woods are now deranged,
with a horrible beast.
“Crazy Old Maurice” they dismiss.
His deliriums, they
believe, are of his wife. With this
they pity his daughter, Belle.
