Counting Games

I step on the scale

Feel the glass beneath my feet

One hundred and ten pounds

That's still too much for me

I'm trying so hard to fight this

And the battle is not yet lost

I know my mind is strong

But will my body be the cost?

I don't know how long it's been

Or even how long it will be

However long it takes, I suppose

For me to finally become something lovely

Forever I will play these counting games

That dance inside my head

One day I will be beautiful

Or maybe I'll just be dead

Ten, nine, eight

Seven, six, five, four

I've made up my mind

Not to eat anymore

Five, four, three

And three, two, one

This life is but a nightmare

Please wake me when it's done
