Contradicting Steps

Throwback to the past

I stare straight down

"How could she do that"

the whispers

they creep under the skin

I held a grudge

with every death comes honor

but this one was the exception

I held my own hand

I still hold my own hand

even now as I stare aimlessly

the screen still burns my eyes

and the keyboard clicks sound the same

She moved away in August

but my heart continues on

because it knows better

Looking back onto the past

and I still don't regret a single thing
