A Connection between "Brothers"

Tue, 06/21/2016 - 12:02 -- batoo98

The shackles of the past still ring in the minds of a brother.

Poetry allows the emotions of a brother to be proclaimed.

The MASTERS of the world the brother lives in, know how to silence the brother.

but through poetry, a brother can be free to be a brother.

But to many brothers are still afraid to be a brother.

Because the leather is still ripping the skins of our backs, the muzzle is still forcing us to close our mouths and the noose is still getting tighter around our necks.

The privileged say "If it's not physical, It's not abuse" But when a brother is scared to even walk home to their family or A sister is afraid that her sons won't make it home due to the color of their skin.

Abuse is the only word that comes to mind.

Through poetry, I as a brother can speak my mind about the issues we still have in the world of the MASTERS.

Through poetry, I can connect with the brothers afraid to speak, or spit the muzzle out.

Through poetry, Brothers from a whole different time can connect. From the years of Langston Hudges to the times of Tupac Shakur

Poetry from a brother has relayed one message "Equality" and until the day the noose is cut and world has a place for the brothers and sisters; poetry and the power of the written word will be our tool against the unjust treatment from the MASTERS of the world.

And as a brother I will use my gift of poetry to fight for what I believe in and others just like me.
