Collinear

Location

I'm the same as them all,

   yet so different too.

On the outside I'm whole:

    nice enough,

        pretty enough.

But on the inside I'm broken in more pieces than two.

Not good enough for anything but to serve as gum on your shoe.

~We're collinear,

but that doesn't make us equal.

Some points are farther along than others.

Some points weren't made to go up.

After all, there's always a lesser person.

I just wish I wasn't always that negative one. ~

Potentially I'm worth it.

At least that's what they say.

But can a circle potentially become a square?

    I think not.

So here I lay

with hopes and dreams too big,

as I watch her live them out for me.

~We're collinear,

but that doesn't make us equal.

Some points are farther along than others.

Some points weren't made to go up.

After all, there's always a lesser person.

I just wish I wasn't always that negative one. ~

I don't know why.

Who am I?

Can you tell me?

    Maybe not.

Either way,

    I'm not sure I'd agree,

        because

~We're collinear,

but that doesn't make us equal.

Some points are farther along than others.

Some points weren't made to go up.

After all, there's always a lesser person.

I just wish I wasn't always that negative one. ~

Will I ever be that positive one?

I think

    I will be

        that positive one.

This poem is actually a song.  The words in the little squiggleys (~...~) represent the chorus.  As soon as I get the chords figured out and a better tune I'm going to record it and upload.  The written copy will have to do until then though so I hope you like it!
