Cinders

Location

United Kingdom

On New Year's turn

We peer

beyond the floodlit glass

into the night falling

we rise and rise and ride

              up silver splinter

encased in shining glass skin

we stare  into the void

until only our reflections

remain

Below

the sea unseen

    sloughs against chill winter sand

       and skins each minute towards

Midnight in its shingled waves

Now

as the Hour encroaches

we chant acquaintance

Formal and hand-linked

starched and creased

and diamond breasted

slick clones, pre-programmed

with expectant joy

Yet you. you unique

All black

in leather pants

and velvet jacket

silk lapels, tie, shirt

Midnight strangers meet

champagne lips

parted with flight fingers

lightning bug kisses

on smooth 'scapes

of flesh and muscle

entwine

on sweat wet sheet

    stretch and roll and ride

mattress creak and cradle

      eye light

           gleaming

                 clinging

                        in oily

                            expectation

room          cooling lather

you sleep

against me

Heart-heat spent

fleeing on whispered words

Luv you

Hunger

thunders through

my bones

memory kisses ash on lip

palms stretch on frozen winter pane

and beyond

your absence
