An old confusion found in bits on the carpet. An old friend who I hate. And old promises I made. Full circles from bar room floors. Friends in this life are important. Death is better with someone you love.
I shout your name And you are silent I touch your hand But still you do not embrace Through all my attempts of breaking through You never moved or gave me face So instead I shouted at a mountain peak
On New Year's turn We peer beyond the floodlit glass into the night falling       we rise and rise and ride               up silver splinter
I know no thirst, behind this peace of mind No familiar faces, behind this peace of mind Abandoned trust, behind this peace of mind Broken, death will come some day Ill-exposed by all the lies told
It felt so right but then it felt so wrong.
Every morning after, I cried to God Pleading that he’d be merciful and wake us both From the nightmare of your passing And grant us instead Mirrors
