Change
From then to now
Oh, how have things changed
I’m no longer innocent,
Yet I’m no longer in pain
That girl in middle school
Might have seen me as lame
I don’t have as many friends
But much I have gained
I know things now
About people without loyalties
About what I want from life
About my own priorities
That girl then
Just wanted to please
But not everyone can be happy
And so I have come to see
That growing up means leaving behind
Things you once treasured
And finding yourself
And new ways to measure
