Change

Change.

Such a powerful word and so difficult to enact

Makes the idealists and dreamers have to face the fact

That not everyone in this world thinks the same

Even though an idea makes sense in one’s own brain

I believe acceptance stems from logic and morals

Those are what breathe life as if they are floral

The people’s roots dig deep underground

Grasping onto the idea nutrients they found

So, we remain quite solid in our own beliefs

Even in trivial matters like boxers or briefs

From the observance of life, can I suggest one thing?

Having compassion. Oh, the unity it would bring

Discarding the pessimism and trying to shine bright

Can truly help someone win a personal fight

Whether it be with money or the thought of suicide

Can you be the one to whom they confide?

To escape a lack of trust and find solidarity

Through acts of kindness, I can just feel the parity

Could we greet as friends despite our differences?

And not enclose ourselves within white picket fences?

Sometimes feeling the need to put the best defences

When, in reality, we are near defenseless.

I need you just as much as you need me.

So, why can’t we be united like a family?
