I sit here 

eyes squinted.

motionless to the division

I listen

to the crickets chirp

they lurk

on the ground we walk

I talk

of becoming a better person 

conversion

from the two things I love the most 

we toast

to forgetting the past and a bright future

you sure?

I'll be everything you want me to be

you won’t flee?

when times get harder

we’re smarter

than the expectations of society

sobriety

will be what keeps us together

clever

are those who think they know better

fetter

of ignorance will detain those who believe

that we've

not yet justified our actions through experience.
