Catcher

Holden is the catcher in my rye,

but who ever caught him?

Salinger, I praise him often

The Catcher in the Rye is the one book I need

It kept me up to speed

on the 50's

Back when "giving someone the time" was "sexy"

Ducks move on, yet Holden never does

His charm stems from his desired innocence

All the "bad signs" in the world are deterring

I understand Holden's struggle

As the book taught me, life is a long learning process

The more we learn and grow, the more grownup we become

Maturity also comes from losing a loved one

Allie, where'd you go?!

Lead me through this snow

As I turn my red cap around, I look to the lake

Holden said Central Park is great

this time of year

My imagination is forever indebted to Mr. Salinger

His book, I hold near and dear

It got me through my tenth grade year

Holden is the catcher in my rye, but

who ever caught him?

Salinger, I praise him often
