Cat and Mouse

shaky breaths and flitting eyes
when did we come to this point.
how far have we come
to this deafening sound.

clearly, silence is so much stronger than words
the quiet is too much for me to bear
now i wish for those words
to fill this abyss.

this never seemed to be the case
we've fallen from our peak and nothing seems to be clearing
maybe we should end.
maybe its for best.

but you move forward towards me and towards everything you could really do without
and i can't help but run, run from the idea of you coming after me
i can't help myself.

the thought of you reaching me strikes fear and the cowardice in me reigns supreme
if we were anything like our favorite books
you be gryffindor and I be slytherin.
