Breaking Up With Self Doubt

Mon, 02/12/2018 - 08:47 -- Mali77

Dear Self – Doubt,

How does it feel to betray the trust of someone who believed in you?

Perpetrating as a friend, a perfect someone to depend.

A trusted advisor, your logic a realistic perception of truth.

Creeping into to the mind of the vulnerable and insecure.

When you appear, few people know your name and so the pain you bring is hard to contain.

Unable to define the problem at hand, the defenseless do not stand a chance.

Feeling broken and hopeless because you said so.

“What if they all laugh? You don’t have the skills,”

“Someone else could do it better,” your words in my head in a resounding shrill.

I once thought you shielded me from the shame of failure.

But instead you goal is to keep me from my triumphs.

Searching for a passion and purpose to bring meaning to my existence;

I know now that you cannot come with me.

I have found true friends in Courage and Confidence.

Courage is there to remind me to push past fear.

To remind me that God is always there.

Confidence allows me to feel strength in my abilities.

To know that as I work for opportunities, nothing can stop me.

Wherever I go, I know that they will guide me.
