Black Lives Matter
Your silence speaks louder than words
What happens today changes tomorrow
Speak on injustice, rise like songbirds
Your recent post, you put on a good show
What’ve you done besides prove you’re “current with the trends”
“I can’t breathe.” “I don’t want to die young.” “I don’t have a gun.”
How can I be a racist when I have some black friends?
White privilege doesn’t exist? But you can go on a run
Ahmaud Arbery couldn’t, George Floyd couldn't, Tamir Rice could NOT
Know their names, their families’ lives never the same
Black faces on the news need to be more than just a mug shot
Our lives are worth as much as yours, it’s not some game
Black, White, Humans, we’re sister and brother
Speak loud, speak up, speak more than small chatter
Act now, we cannot wait for another
We must come together, Black Lives Matter.
