Those buildings were no match

For those planes coming in hot

They would crumble and burn

While answers were sought.

Who would do such a thing?

And why?

Was it an act of pure hatred?

A way to get tempers so high?

The ash covered the streets

That were filled with horrified screams

Of people running from the flames

Jumping for the windows to escape the scenes;

The bitter things not visible from the ground

Images of so much destruction and death.

The people gasping and garbling

Filling their lungs with deadly smoke at every breath.

We were brought together that day

As a country and as friends.

We held hands, prayed and sang

Hoping our raised voices were make amends.

But the unity was short lived

And eventually our prayers faded

Senators screamed and yelled for war

Making their deaths seem jaded.

When will we learn?

When well we again see?

We caught a glimpse of it in our prayers that day

We should have never stopped for the answer is He.

God is the answer to all

He is the only one who can make this right.

But until we can see that the answer is peace and love

Like animals, we fight.
