Beside the River

In a soft whisper, he said let me take you somewhere special, please

With my hand in his, he guided me through the trees

My eyes grew wide when approached the hidden place

The glitter filled water

The moss covered rocks

The little red bench

Where we take off our socks

I fell in love with this special place

With the birds who happily sang

Swimming in the sparkling bay

With the sun like a boomerang, visiting us every day

And him, surprising me with a bouquet

But now it is cold and the days are short

So we had to say goodbye at the airport

I long to be at the riverside, with the

Singing birds

Buzzing bees

Our quiet words

And the warm sun escaping through the leaves

Our special place I long to go

Where we can walk through the trees and see

The sparkling water

The moss covered rocks

The little red bench

Where we take off our socks

I sure miss that warm June

Where together we laid and friendships were made

Birds always singing a cheerful tune
