This Beauty

Beauty,

So many strive for it

So many flaunt it

But what defines it?

Some say it nestles between the curves of my hips,

Others say lies in wait on my full lips

But so many deny my beauty.

This beauty.

That expands way beyond what your eyes can see.

Beauty lies in every part of me.

It lies in my resilience

Which shouldn’t be mistaken for strength

Because strength only offers a temporary fix

While my resilience lends a hand

To lead me out of the dark corners that I oftentimes stumbleupon

Beauty lies in my intuition,

Which serves as the beacon that guides me back home

Bringing me back to an uplifting outlook on life

Even when my mind has become cluttered by feelings of strife

Beauty lies in the resilience of my intuition

Consistently shedding light onto the greatness

That I often forget I possess

Beauty lies in my silliness

Which breaks through clouds of negativity and the seriousness of life,

Beauty lies in my dance moves

Which  helps me to forgive,

...Forgive myself for thinking that I was anything less

Than fierce

Forgiving me of my insecurities

And accepting me even when I make mistakes

So, for those of you who deny my beauty

Your eyes have simply been playing tricks

My beauty is hidden within every of me.

Within

My Resilience. My Intuition. My Silliness. My Dance Moves.

My beauty simply doesn’t just lie on the surface of my physical appearance,

But beneath it

And this beauty is a given, honey.
