Ballad Of The Maiden 2

Fair Maiden with The Scholar
In the castle, built of brick and stone
A scholar of science lives and works
He has never ventured beyond the walls
He would rather not
He says that it holds no sound truth
The truth he has been looking for
Inside the walls

Somehow he captured her heart
She swoons at his knowledge
Of the world and of the stars
But as time goes on she has changed
He holds fast still to the old ways

She no longer feels for him
Her sparrow has never acknowledged
For he had never acknowledged it
His heart has nothing to give her
Nothing that would be worthy of giving
So the maiden had to leave the castle
For her place was not with scrolls and books to love
