The Appointment

Ring… ring… ring…

Voicemail.

“I guess I’ll try again”

Ring… ring..

“Hello?”

Shit.

My voice sounds like someone else.

An octave I only hear once in a while.

The words coming through go in one ear and out the other.

What did they say?

When is it again?

No parent to remind me when I had to be there.

No parent to make sure I got to the front door.

“Can you remind me of the date again?”

…..make sure you write it down.

No one will do it for you.

Make sure you remember this process.

This isn’t the only time it will happen.

When is it again?

The first of many to do on your own.

No, you can not cancel,

Your parents never would.

Did you write it down?
