The American Dream
Location
I slowly walk home day after day—
taking in the sounds of strangers.
Men and women—that spend their lives
in a constant hurry, a constant mess, a constant disarray.
Living for the American Dream,
they spend their days without ever feeling—
the beauty of simplicity—
the power of silence—
the sanctuary of time spent alone.
No time is taken to hear the cars racing by—
the cooing of the dove,
or the crunching of the crispy leaves beneath their feet.
They cannot seem to let it in, or rather they refuse.
The American Dream, leaves no room for dreamers.
