All I need

All I need

is warmth

to know you are by my side

If I cannot smell your sweet breath,

If I cannot see your crooked smile,

If I cannot hear your ethereal voice,

If I cannot touch your skinny cupid's bow,

If I cannot taste your pouted lips,

I thank the Lord

that I can feel your warmth

That I feel the radiation from your body to mine

That the warmth spreads

like an eagle's wings, courageously

like a viral infection, uncontrollably

I need not fear the cold

because passion never leaves me

As if my skin glows

and bright lights shoot out with the love of a thousands suns

I just need my thoughts

And I am warm

And being warm

is a blessing of comfort and home.

I am thankful for this fire in my heart

that will never rest as I age

and though it may burn,

it keeps me warm
