There’s something called ignorance in the black community
It replaces the love, care and the unity
The power our race once possessed
Because black people were stronger than the rest
Overcoming slavery, life was never simple
Slavery used to be physical now it’s mental
We used to b e princes and princesses and kings and queens
We were much more royal than we now seem
Our outside appearance matched our souls
But we stayed humble because we knew at any day it could all fold
Being there for each other made our village strong
Too many chiefs not enough Indians, everything went wrong
Gratitude in our eyes because black people are proudly represented
Now green with envy, the reason why the caged bird song, isn’t it?
