It’s all right to take a breather sometimes
To walk away and take your time
Or drink iced water topped with lemon or lime
But please don’t forget what you left behind
It’s okay to dream and forget
The horrors of the world that may be too hard to bear
If reality is crushing your soul
Run to the mountains until you’re back whole
Never mind the judgments the world seems to pass
To us who are hunted by our past
You can cry your eyes until they can no more
You can scream out loud until you throat’s sore
You can rant your way through the pain and anger
I’ll be there to guard you from the monsters
I won’t be pretentious enough to say
That life will work out some way
The truth is life is already hard as it is
Without the lies people say as they please
Reality is not a smooth road; it’s full of curves and bumps
So learn to buckle your seatbelt
Because you’re in for this till the final destination
It’s all right to take a breather sometimes
To walk away and take your time
Or drink iced water topped with lemon or lime
But please don’t forget what you left behind
It’s okay to dream and forget
