Abyss That Was Amazon

Here first, they sprang,

Before humans came,

Brown arms stretched out,

Towards the sun

Here first, they came,

Nature and Earth sang,

“Animals and trees as one”

Then man pranced along,

Clinkered mother’s song,

In spite of this, she grew

My love will outlast,

Even after I pass,

Humans should nurture Earth too

Ignoring this,

Her art they dismiss,

Her swamps for fire they glow

Earth is taken for granted,

Her children don’t replant it,

Brown arms for dogs they throw

If only they had known,

Their roots were tightly sewn,

Into the ground of Earth,

They were born in

Her lack of aggression,

They would never question,

Because a mother’s love,

Is stronger than transgression

When their Mother dies,

The humans will rise,

Due to the Earth,

she so finely designed

Nature’s models we have rid

Will she ever forgive?

The day we destroyed the world,

We were supposed to outlive
