“Me vs. Me”

You are a wild entity that I must tame

You can bring glory, you can bring shame.

A tightrope of the most delicate kind

You and humility must be intertwined.

On my quest for success and perfection

You are adept at changing perceptions

You change reality to your liking

Until we are both perceived as trifling.

Eckhart Tolle says you are not me

Yet just a filter through which I see

To give in to you is to lose my soul

To lose my essence, to lose all hope.

I seek to be free and soar like an eagle

And say farewell to you, my forsaken ego.
